Shirley Garcia: Testimony
My name is Shirley Garcia. I am from America.
As a child, my home life was financially secure but emotionally a mess. My parents loved me but they fought with each other all the time, every day. I was very nervous because of this. My brother and I eventually got used to the fighting but as a result, it made me depressed. I loved school because it took me away from the chaos at home plus I enjoyed learning. During my University years it became hard for me to concentrate because of the depression.
I dropped out for a year to get my head together. I went back to University but it was still difficult. I was working up to 3 jobs at one time trying to pay my bills and go to school. During this time I met a woman at work who told me about Jesus Christ and how He could help me and change my life. I was open to the idea because I felt lonely and depressed and very scared.
One day I went to the church that she recommended and as I was listening to the sermon I felt a peace that I had never felt before. I went to the altar and received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. After that, I had to work through some things but it was so much easier because I wasn’t alone anymore. I felt Jesus walking with me every day. Now, it’s 34 years later and God gave me a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful daughters and a son-in law. My husband and I are in Japan as Missionaries because of what Jesus Christ did in our lives. We want to see Japanese people (and anyone else living here) to experience the joy and peace and love of God that has forever changed our lives. Thank you. 🙏🏼
